The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team finished in second place among 11 schools at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational, finishing on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, freshman Ashley Dyer finished second in the 1650 freestyle at 17:57.85, and freshman Caroline Turner finished fifth at 18:31.19. Freshman April Groce was sixth in the 200 backstroke at 2:11.07, and junior Thalia Costanza took seventh in the 100 freestyle at 53.48.
Kinsey Brooks continued her stellar swimming, taking first in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:17.57, and Marie Jones finished secnd in the 200 fly at 2:08.06. The women's 400 free relay of Brooks, Sydney Hall, Costanza, and Anna Watson finished third at 3:34.23.
Over the course of the three day meet, the team achieved an astounding 133 lifetime best times, 259 college best swims, 325 season best times, 119 finalists, 59 top-20 times in UMW history, seven freshmen records, four individual F&M titles, two relay F&M titles, and seven top 10 times in Division III. Both teams surged up the national rankings with the women now sitting 13th/11th (dual/championships) and the men sitting 25th/18th (dual/championships) on the Swimcloud.com rankings.
The Eagles will return to action after holiday break.
