The University of Mary Washington field hockey team used goals from seven different players in downing Randolph-Macon College, 8-1, on Friday night in Ashland, Va. The Eagles improve to 9-4 on the season.

UMW's balanced attack included four goals in each half. Sophomore Shelby Press opened the scoring at 8:43 unassisted, and senior Christine Loehr scored her ninth of the year three minutes later to up the lead to 2-0. With 9:29 left in the half, freshman Lexie Dixson scored her sixth of the year on an Alleegra Massey-Elim pass. Massey-Elim provided the assist on the fourth goal as well, with Morgan LaRowe scoring with 3:32 remaining.

In the second half, freshman Lauren Hopkins scored her team-high 11th of the season 1:09 into play. Randolph-Macon tied the score four minutes into the half, but the Eagles answered with a tally from Erin Kaila on a Loehr assist with 21:20 left.

Sophomore Alaina Shivers followed with a pair of scores, with 15:02 remaining unassisted and again with 13:07 to go on a pass from Victoria Novak to cap the scoring.

The Eagles led in shots, 56-2, as well as in penalty corners, 16-1. Kelsey Stanley had 14 saves and Ariel Salerno added 12 for the Yellow Jackets, while UMW's Jessica Cavolt had no saves in gaining the win.

UMW will be back in action on Tuesday with a key Capital Athletic Conference contest with York College of Pa. at the Battleground at 4:00 p.m.
