Junior Haley Kane scored three goals and added two assists, and sophomore Christine Loehr added three scores to lead the 16th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 12-0 victory over Roanoke College on Sunday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

Junior Kathleen namey opened the scoring with 28:02 left in the first half on an assist from Carlee Budd, and the Eagles moved the score to 2-0 on an Ashlin Jones score with 17:28 remaining in the first. Nicole Guinn scored on a Kane assist with 13:45 left, and Jenna Steele scored two minutes later to move the lead to 4-0. Kane scored on a Budd assist with 8:10 left, Kaitlyn Taliaferro scored with 3:26 left, and Kane capped the scoring in the final minute on another Budd pass. UMW led, 7-0, at halftime.

In the second half, Loehr scored with 16:27 left on a Kane assist, and Steele scored her second tally with 14:11 remaining. Kane scored on a Namey assist with 10:05 left, and Loehr scored a pair of unassisted goals in the final minutes.

The Eagles outshot the Maroons, 41-2, and led in penalty corners, 14-1. Megan McLaghlin had one save and Namey one defensive save for UMW, while three goalies combined for 21 saves for Roanoke, with one defensive save.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday night when they visit Bridgewater College at 7:00 p.m.
