Box Score 2 The University of Mary Washington volleyball team swept a pair
of 3-0 wins over Penn State Harrisburg and Virginia Wesleyan
College on Saturday to improve to 21-9 on the season. UMW surpasses
the 20-win mark for the first time since 1997.
The Eagles defeated Penn State Harrisburg to open the day,
25-11, 25-15, 25-14. Freshman Dani Fiore led
the Eagles with 10 kills and four service aces, while junior Emma Murphy
added seven kills without an error in 11 attempts and five total
blocks. Emma
Olson recorded 28 assists and a pair of aces to go with five
digs, and Jenna Yost added
six digs.
UMW then defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 25-15, 25-12, 25-16.
Freshman Kyla Foss led the Eagles with 10 kills, while Fiore and
Murphy each had nine. Olson scored 20 assists, while Jenifer Grove
added 15. Olson led with digs, while Caroline Porco had 12 digs.
Murphy had four blocks.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday, when they host
Christopher Newport University at 7:00 p.m.
