The University of Mary Washington volleyball team swept a Capital Athletic Conference match from St. Mary's College on Wednesday night at the Anderson Center, improving to 3-0 in CAC play and 10-1 overall. Set scores were 25-17, 28-26, and 25-19.
The Eagles were offensively by junior hitter
Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle), who scored a team-high 13 kills, while classmate
Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) added 11 kills. Senior
Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) had eight kills and sophomore
Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va., Manchester) added seven for UMW. Senior setter
Katie Shiflett (Weyers Cave, Va., Fort Defiance) had 37 assists for the Eagles, and Wickerhsm led defensively with 16 digs, with
Emily Shea (Chesapeake, Va., Hickory) adding 14 digs.
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they will play a pair of matches at Lynchburg College.
