Sophomore guards Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) (17 points) and Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) (16) led the 23rd/25th ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to an 81-53 victory over Salisbury university on Saturday afternoon at Goolrick Gymnasium. UMW improves to 19-4 overall, and 14-1 in CAC play.

The Eagles held a 10-point advantage at intermission after shooting 50% from the field, and connecting on 10-11 free throws. UMW shot even better in the second, making 16-28 attempts to shoot 53.6% for the game. Salisbury made 19-51 shots (37.3%) from the floor. The Eagles, despite committing 22 turnovers caused 20 from Salisbury, and outrebounded the guests, 45-25.

Wimmer made 5-6 field goals, including 3-4 three pointers, and went 4-4 from the line for her 17 points. She also added four assists and two steals. McRae made 6-11 field goals, including 2-3 three pointers, and made both of her free throws to along with six rebounds and six assists.

Also in double figures for the Eagles were sophomore forward Lauren Kornacki (Glen Allen, Va., Deep Run) (11 points, five rebounds) and sophomore Claire Brooks (Glen Allen, Va., Deep Run) (10 points, seven rebounds). Freshman center Carol Dye (Springfield, Va., Lake Braddock) had a team-high eight rebounds for UMW.

Salisbury was led by Glen Charlton's 15 points and Nicole Sisco's 14.

Mary Washington will close the regular season on Sunday when they host St. Mary's College at 5:00 p.m.
