Sarah Tryon (Fairfax Station, Va., South County) each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 5-1 victory at Hood College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Tuesday. The Eagles improve to 11-4-3 overall and 4-2-2 in CAC play, and clinch the fourth seed in next week's CAC Tournament.
DiPippa opened the scoring at 10:17 unassisted and sophomore
Amy Olson (Crofton, Md.) extended the lead to 2-0 on an assist from Tryon at 33:05. Junior
Chrissy Reardon (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) upped the lead to 3-0 just before halftime on a
Nicole Dierkes pass.
After Hood scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute, Tryon scored at 63 minutes on a pass from
Katelyn Shank and DiPippa. Freshman
Katy Generelli (Spotswood, N.J., Spotswood) capped the scoring at 70:43, extending her goal scoring streak to three games.
The Eagles outshot Hood, 14-6, and had four corner kicks to two for the Blazers.
Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had two saves and
Grace Rosales (Vienna, Va., Madison) had one for UMW, while Rachelle Buhrman had four stops for Hood.
The Eagles will host St. Mary's College in the first round of the CAC Tournament on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
