The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finished in eighth place, while the Eagle women took 10th place among 16 teams at the South Region Preview, hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Saturday.

The men finished with 218 points, led by freshman Evan Plath, who finished 36th with a time of 27:39.9, and freshman Andrew Coe, who was 57th, at 28:25.0. Sophomore Trent Nichols was 59th with a time of 28:26.7, junior Everett Cimon was 63rd at 28:41.4, and sophomore Robert Stetkevych rounded out the top five in 78th place at 29:08.6.

For the women, junior Lily Hoffman finished fifth overall at 22:52 on the 6K course, while junior Addy Wallin placed 43rd at 26:05.0. Sophomore Mattea Ryan finished 55th at 27:01.9, freshman Lee Spickard finished 63rd with a time of 27:48.9, and soph Rania Carter placed 69th at 28:19.6.

Both teams will be back in action on October 2 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
