Box Score 2 The 20th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team celebrated moving up three spots in the national ITA rankings with a pair of shutout victories on Thursday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
The Eagles started the day with an afternoon 7-0 victory over John Carroll. UMW scored the doubles point with wins from
Ryan King and
Albert Vladimirskiy at two, 6-0, and from
Keldibek Kozhoev and
Aidan Meehan at three, 6-2.
In singles, the Eagles gained wins fromKing at one, 6-4, 7-6,
Eli Campbell at two, 6-2, 7-5, and Manchala at three, 6-1, 6-2. Vladimirskiy won at four, 6-0, 6-0, Kozhoev at five, 6-2, 6-1, and Meehan at six, 6-3, 6-3.
UMW then topped RPI, 4-0, in a match shortened to decision. The Eagles scored wins at one doubles from
Trevor Rein and
Asher Willenborg, 6-1, and three doubles from
Ryan Gipner and
Jack Riordan at three, 6-2.
In singles, the Eagles scored a 5-0 (ret.) win from Willenborg at one, a 6-0, 6-1 win from Gipner at five, and a 6-2, 6-1 win from Lehman at six.
The Eagles, 10-1 on the season, will be back in action on March 14 at Washington and Lee University at 1:00 p.m.
