The 23rd ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team won a pair of concurrent matches on Monday afternoon at the National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla. The Eagles topped Ave Maria University, 4-3, and Sacred Heart University, 6-1, to improve to 7-0 on the season.
In the victory over Ave Maria, the Eagles gained the doubles point after scoring wins from
Will Fromherz and
Eli Campbell at one, 7-5,
Rithik Manchala and
Cooper Lehman at two, 6-1, and
Ryan King and
Albert Vladimirskiy at three, 6-4.
In singles, the Eagles gained wins from Lehman at one, 7-6, 6-3, King at two, 1-6, 6-4, 10-5, and
Keldibek Kozhoev at six, 6-2, 6-1.
The Eagles rolled to a 6-1 win over Sacred Heart.
Trevor Rein and Asher WIllenborg won at one doubles, 6-2, and
Evan Fisher and
Ryan Battaglia won at two, 6-3, to gain the doubles point.
In singles, Willenborg won at one, 6-4, 6-4, Rein was victorious at two, 6-1, 6-4, Fisher won at four, 6-1, 6-1,
Ryan Gipner won at five, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8, and
Ryan Battaglia won at six, 6-1, 6-4.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday in Orlando against 17th ranked Carnegie Mellon University at 8:00 a.m.
