The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team hosted the ITA Regional Championships this weekend at the Battleground.
In singles, first-year
Isabella Rotaru and junior
Addison Felts advanced to the round of 16. Rotaru defeated Sophie Capone in the first round, 8-0, and Grace Lorenz in the second round, 6-1, 6-7 (3-0), 10-5, before falling in a super breaker in the round of 16. Felts topped Shloka Tambat, 6-0, in the first, and Gabriella Mazzeo in the second, 6-0, 6-0. She fell in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-4.
Senior
Madison McCarty won three singles matches in the B3 bracket, with decisive 8-2, 8-3, and 8-3 wins.Â
In doubles, Felts and
Natalie Kim advanced to the quarterfinals, defeating Merve Uyumazturk/Natasha Sharnoff, 8-1, and Aarti Prochnow/Jolie Zink, 8-2. McCarty and
Abiela Wang went 3-1 in doubles in the B1 flight, with victories of 6-3, 6-1, and 6-1.
