The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team gained a pair of wins against Washington & Lee, won eight of nine matches against rival Christopher Newport University, and dropped all flights to Division One Longwood University this weekend in Newport News, Va.
On Saturday, the Eagles took three doubles flights against the Captains, with
Addison Felts and
Natalie Kim winning, 6-2, at one,
Isabella Rotaru and
Sophia Broomall winning, 6-1, at two, and
Jacey Copeland and
Sarah Sandoval Banuelos at three, 6-3. In singles, winners included Felts, Rotaru, Kim, Broomall, and
Natalie Howell.
Against W&L, Felts and Kim won at one doubles, 6-0, and Rotaru won at one singles, 6-2, 6-4.
On Sunday, the Eagles dropped all flights to the Lancers, with several top-six players not in the lineup.
UMW will return to action on September 27 as the Eagles host the annual ITA Regional Championships.
