The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team, ranked 61st in the nation, dropped a 4-3 decision to #20 Swarthmore College on Sunday afternoon at the Hegmann Family Courts. The Eagles fall to 8-9 on the season.
The Eagles gained momentum early, scoring thrilling wins at one and two doubles to score the doubles point. Sophomore
Addison Felts and first year
Natalie Kim gained a 7-5 win at one over Erin Li and Kathleen Shiffer, and
Sophia Broomall and
Linda Dimitroff gained a 7-6 win over Nathalie Williams and Lisa Messier at two.
Swarthmore then gained the first four singles results to clinch the victory. Felts scored an important win at one over Li, 6-4, 6-3, and Dimitroff gained a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) win at three over Shiffer.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Newport News, Va.
