The 19th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team overcame dropping the doubles point to defeat #25 Salisbury University, 4-3, on Wednesday evening at the Hegmann Family Courts. The Eagles improve to 14-7 on the season.
After the Sea Gulls claimed all three doubles matches in taking the point, UMW responded with straight set wins from
Brock Ladehoff at two singles (6-2, 6-4 over Jhayden Pappas) and
Ryan King at four singles (6-4, 6-2 over Gianluca Beaujon).Salisbury claimed a straight set win at one, and with the score tied at 2-2, three matches went to a third set. The Eagles scored a win from
Evan Fisher at three, a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Gurv Suri, and from
Jack Riordan at five (3-6, 7-5, 6-2 over Nicholas O'Dea) for the 4-3 win.
The Eagles will be back in action on Monday at Barton College at 3:00 p.m.
