The 28th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team won a thrilling 4-3 decision at 23rd ranked rival Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Va. The Eagles improve to 11-4 on the season.
The Eagles started singles with their backs against the wall, after dropping two of three doubles matches. UMW scored a victory at one doubles,
Trevor Rein and
Jack Riordan claimed a 6-4 win over Vincent Truong and Ashton Legum.
Rein got the Eagles on track with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Truong at one singles, and Riordan posted a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) win ovr Rainier Christiansen at five.
Brock Ladehoff won a three setter over Bhuvanesh Kumaresan at two, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, and
Ryan King posted a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 over Ashton Legum at four.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday when they host 22nd ranked Carnegie Mellon University at 3:30 p.m.
