The 27th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Friday in Newport News, Va., falling to #16 Kenyon College, 5-2, and topping Hendrix University, 7-0. The Eagles move to 10-3 on the season.
Against the Profs, The Eagles gained a victory at three doubles, as
Will Fromherz and
Matt Scott defeated Rishil Kondapaneni and Gianluca Bocanegra by a 6-3 score. UMW dropped 6-4 decisions at one and two, and moved to singles play trailing 1-0.
In singles, UMW saw
Jack Riordan score a 6-4, 6-4 win at four over Juozas Cioladis, and at five,
Ryan King gained a 6-2, 6-3 win over Gianluca Bocanegra.
UMW then faced Hendrix University, and scored a 7-0 win. In doubles,
Evan Fisher and
Drew Campbell gained a 6-0 win at two over Taegan Terry and Brayden Bolch, and at three, Fromherz and
Ryan Meyer defeated Maximilian Henderson and Robinson Wright, 6-0.
UMW then swept the singles, with
Trevor Rein scoring a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) win at one over Wesley McClure,Â
Brock Ladehoff topping Agustin Kalinowski at two, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-8), andÂ
Ryan King defeating Cason Cole at three, 6-2, 6-0.Â
Albert Vladimirskiy downed Maximilian Henderson at four, 6-0, 6-0,Â
Ryan Meyer defeated Santiago Perez at five, 6-0, 6-1, and Campbell topped Robinson Wright at six, 6-3, 6-0.
The Eagles will face #28 Wesleyan University in Newport News on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
