The 26th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Haverford College, 5-2, and Shenandoah University, 6-1, on Saturday at the UMW Indoor Tenis Center. The Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season.
In the win over Haverford, the Eagles used wins from
Trevor Rein and
Jack Riordan at two (6-3) and
Will Fromherz and
Matt Scott at three (6-4) to gain the doubles point.
In singles, all six matches went to three sets. Rein won at one, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, and
Ryan King won at four, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.
Albert Vladimirskiy claimed a 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 win at five, and Scott won at six, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.Â
In the Shenandoah match, UMW scored the doubles point with wins from Rein and Riordan at one (6-1),
Evan Fisher and King at two (6-3). and Campbell and
Rithik Manchala at three (6-1).
Singles saw Eagle wins from Rein at one, 6-3, 6-3,
Brock Ladehoff at two, 6-4, 6-1, and King at three, 6-1, 6-0. Manchala won at five, 6-4, 6-2, and Campbell scored a 6-1, 7-5 win at six.
The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, as they host Stevens at 9:00 am and Virginia Wesleyan at 1 pm.
