The 27h ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team opened the 2025 spring season with a pair of victories on Saturday, downing Gettysburg College, 7-0, before edging Averett University, 4-3.
In the Gettysburg match, the Eagles swept all three doubles matches, as
Addison Felts and
Natalie Kim won at one, 6-0,
Jacey Copeland and
Sophia Broomall won at two, 6-1, and
Evie Snyder and
Linda Dimitroff were victorious at three, 6-0.
In singles, Felts won at one, 6-0, 6-2, Kim won at two, 6-0, 6-0, and Dimitroff won at three, 6-2, 6-2. Copeland scored a 6-1, 6-3 win at four, Snyder won at five, 6-0, 6-1, and Broomall won at six, 6-1, 6-0.
Against Averett, the Eagles scored the doubles point with a 6-3 win from Felts and Kim at one and a 6-4 win by Copeland and Broomall at two. In singles, Felts won at one, 6-3, 6-2, Kim was vicorious at two, 6-2, 6-4, and Broomall won at six, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4).
The Eagles will return to action on Friday when they face George Mason University in an exhibition at home at 3:00 p.m.
