The University of Mary Washington men's swimming and diving team took down Marymount, 161-101, on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles finished the regular season 5-3.
In the 1000-yard freestyle,
Larry Almariento finished in second place with a final time of 10:16.52. In the 200-yard freestyle, the Eagles got their first event win of the afternoon as
Zachary Cherry finished in first (1:46.34) and
Darl Everett finished in third.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Sam Roundtree finished in first (51.03), while
Kyle Diederich finished in second.
Ihor Birioutchenski took home the win in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.62), while Will Burkey finished in third.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Johnathan Zimmer was first to the wall by over 10 seconds (1:54.80), while
Evan Shelton finished in second. In the 50-yard freestyle,
Guenter Kryszon and Eli Polovchik finished in second and third.
Burkey and Everett took home a second and third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Then
Kyle Johnson finished in first in the 200-yard backstroke. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Zimmer finished first (2:09.34), while Dan Rojas finished in third.
Almariento (4:59.63) held on to a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while Shelton finished in third. Cherry (53.06),
Jakob Robinette, and Everett finished on the podium in the 100-yard butterfly. And in the 400-yard IM, AJ Green was barely outtouched, finishing second by less than .20 seconds, while
Jack Schreiber finished in third. And in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Burkey, Kryszon, Stern, and Cherry finished first with a final time of 1:27.68.
The Eagles are back in action from Feb. 13-15 in Hampton, Va. for the NJAC Championships.
