The University of Mary Washington men's rugby team traveled to Mount St. Mary's College over the weekend for a big rival clash. UMW started out strong scoring in the first three minutes but again kicking for points seemed to be an issue. The game went back and forth for most of the match with The Mount taking points from penalties and conversions whenever they came.
UMW scored six tries on the day but could only convert one of them. In the last few minutes of the match UMW came to life with some fantastic go forward ball and some excellent offloads, but it would be just too late, with the hosts taking a 44-35 decision.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, as the B side will host VMI at 10:00 am, and the A side will host Southern Virginia at 2:00 p.m. for Homecoming.
