#14 UMW Women's Tennis Falls at #27 Swarthmore, 5-4, on Saturday

The 14th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision at 27th ranked Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 8-5 on the season.

In doubles, Swarthmore gained the upper hand with an 8-5 win at one and an 8-4 win at three. Eagles Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino scored an 8-7 (7) win at two over Sonia Varma and Nathalie Williams.

The teams split the six singles matches, with UMW taking wins in the top three slots. Abby Moghtader downed Williams, 6-1, 6-2, at one, Coleman defeated J. Lewis at two, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, and Lauren Quinn defeated Varma at three, 6-4, 6-1.

UMW will be back in action on Thursday when they host Christopher Newport University in conference play. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
