The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Averett University, 9-0, in Danville, Va. on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles move to 2-2 on the season.

In doubles action, UMW's Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson defeated Stan Martherus and Lasse Bonn, 8-2, at one, Cole Tecce and Nick Spera downed Jorge Figueroa and Evgeniy Bogdasaryan, 8-4, at two, and Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese defeated Thomas Woodcock and Josh Bottrell, 8-3, at three.

In singles play, Hutchison defeated Figueroa at one, 6-4, 6-2, Wtason topped Martherus at two, 6-3, 6-2, and Tecce beat Bonn at three, 6-0, 6-1. Charan Shankardefeated Woodcock at four, 6-1, 6-0, Spera defeated Bogdasaryan at five, 6-1, 6-4, and Leese topped Bottrell at six, 6-4, 6-3.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Washington and Lee University at 3:00 p.m.
