UMW Men's Swimming Falls to Washington & Lee in Season Opener

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team competed for the first time since winning the 2020 Capital Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, falling to Washington & Lee University, 157-105, in Lexington, Va. in the 2021-22 season opener.

Conrad Tan picked up the Eagles' first victory, in the 1000 freestyle, at 10:22.52. Peter Lermo took first in the 200 yard butterfly at 1:59.01, and Ellis Winfree won the 50 yard freestyle at 21.81. Tan came back to win the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:15.57, and Thomas Leckrone took first in the 100 yard butterfly at 52.43. Tan closed the day with his third individual win of the day in the 200 IM at 2:01.05.

The Eagles will be back in action this Friday when they host Marymount University and Southern Virginia University at 5:30 p.m.
