Eagle Men's Swimmers Fall to Washington & Lee, 146.5-115.5 in Season Opener

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team opened the 2019-20 season with a loss to visiting Washington & Lee University, 146.5-115.5, on Friday evening at Goolrick Natatorium.

Senior Noah Carpenter finished in first place in the 1000 yard freestyle at 10:12.26, ahead of Teammates Austin Farrar and Matthew Scott, as UMW finished 1-2-3. Junior Bradley Torrington finished first in the 200 yard butterfly, with a time of 1:57.62, and senior Garrett Ross took first in the 50 free at 21.83. Sophomore Thomas Leckrone took top honors in the 100 yard butterfly at 52.30.

The Eagles will return to action next Friday when they visit the University of Lynchburg with Bridgewater College starting at 6 p.m.
