UMW pulled away from a persistent Georgetown team playing in front of a nice home crowd to win 47-28. Both teams earned a try bonus in Chesapeake Conference play and Georgetown put UMW under enormous pressure in the first half. 

 

This was a glimpse of UMW's side of the future with 10 new starters and it took the first half to get tuned in. Georgetown scored a quick 14 points before UMW's Harry Masters scored from fullback, not his customary #9. 

 

UMW was down 21-7 at the half.

 

The second half went back and forth initially with UMW senior Lewis Grant scoring a converted try and Georgetown scoring a try at the 47th minute. This seemed to give UMW's team some backbone, and senior Phillip Harrison returned to the field after missing the Navy game. Chapel Hill teammates Aidan Gallagher played a well-balanced game at his first start at #10 and 17 year-old Seamus Brennan played extremely physical in the centers to counter Georgetown's excellent centers. 

 

UMW then countered with 26 unanswered points and try's by wing Tamilore Awonusi, Joseph Callery, Philip Harrison, Callery again, with center Adam Warner finishing the game touching down under the posts. Andrew LaMarca and Tucker Chewning were steady in UMW's pack and raised the physicality of play in the second half along with Harrison subbing in.
