#17 UMW Men's Tennis Falls to #24 Johns Hopkins, 5-4, on Sunday

The seventeenth-ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team fell to twenty-fourth ranked Johns Hopkins University, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles slip to 18-5 overall.

After doubles action, Johns Hopkins held a 2-1 lead. Moses Hutchison and Matt Miles were the lone winners at two doubles 8-6. The Blue Jays won one doubles and three doubles 8-3.

In singles action, the two teams split the six matches. Patrick Hughes won at two singles 6-2, 6-3; Michael Fleming won at three singles 6-4, 6-1; and Cole Tecce won at six singles 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Hopkins won at one singles 7-6 (7-1), 6-4; four singles 7-6 (7-2), 6-3; and five singles 6-1, 6-1.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday as they will host the CAC semifinals against Southern Virginia at 4 p.m.
