The 16th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Caltech, 7-2, in its spring break opener in California on Sunday afternoon to improve to 6-0 on the season.

The Eagles jumped ahead in doubles, as Derek Hagino and Patrick Hughes won at two doubles, 8-6, and Ryland Byrd and Joseph Brown won at three, 8-2.

In singles play, Matt Miles won at one, 7-5, 6-2, and Hughes won at two, 6-2, 6-3. Moses Hutchison won at four, 7-6 (5), 6-0, Byrd won at five, 6-1, 6-2, and Cole Tecce won at six, 6-4, 6-3.

The Eagles will be back in action this evening as they take on Whittier College at 5:30 p.m.
