#21 UMW Men's Tennis Falls to #9 Pomona Pitzer, 6-3, on Thursday Night in California

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at ninth ranked Pomona Pitzer Colleges on Thursdaya night in Pomona, Cal. The Eagles slip to 6-3 on the season.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick start in doubles, gaining wins at two from Matt Miles and Brandon Griffin, 9-7, and at three from Derek Hagino and Patrick Hughes, 8-2. After falling at one, 8-5, UMW headed to singles action with a 2-1 lead.

Pomona rallied to win five of six singles matches, with Hughes winning in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday with a match at Redlands at 3:00 p.m.
