The 23rd ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated 12th ranked Case Western Reserve on Friday evening at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center as part of the Blue/Grey Classic. The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season.
The Eagles crept ahead after doubles, winning at one and three to take the lead to singles. At one doubles, Shelby Harris and Kait Brogan won, 8-4, while Alina Suyama and Hannah Jabusch won at three, 8-5.
In singles, the Eagles gained straight set wins from Chrissy Gaul at three, 6-4, 6-3, and Brogan, 6-3, 6-1, and senior Shelby Harris won at one, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, in three sets for the 5-4 victory.
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they host Oberlin College at 2:00 p.m.
