The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming
teams defeated Gettysburg College on Saturday in a dual meet at
Goolrick Natatorium. The men won by a score of 158-104, and the
women won, 193-69.
The Eagles set the tone by finishing 1-2 in the opening 200
medley relays on both sides. Winners for the men included the 200
medley relay of Sean Mayer, Peter Slattery, Alex Anderson, and Nick
Eckhoff at 1:35.90; Zach Eisig in the 1000 freestyle at 10:06.35;
Eckhoff in the 200 free at 1:45.46; Slattery in the 100 yard
breaststroke at 1:00.00 and the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.90; Mayer
in the 200 fly at 2:03.13; Anderson in the 50 freestyle at 21.65
and the 100 freestyle at 47.39; Andrew Garofolo in the 500
freestyle at 4:55.39; and Matt Arnold in the 100 butterfly at
53.62.
Winners for the women included the 200 medley relay of Katie
Fago, Hannah Hagy, Amber Kerico, and Stephanie Hallock at 1:50.62;
Jessica Singer in the 200 freestyle at 1:58.44 and the 500
freestyle at 5:14.42; Lindsay Ancellotti in the 100 backstroke at
1:01.63 and the 200 backstroke at 2:13.73; Kerico in the 100
breaststroke at 1:08.49 and the 100 fly at 1:00.20; Abby Cox in the
200 fly at 2:15.68; Hallock in the 50 freestyle at 25.18 and the
100 freestyle at 54.90; Kristen Callahan in the 200 breaststroke at
2:32.94; Robin Brazier in the 200 IM at 2:15.00; and the 200 free
relay of Meredith Thompson, Hagy, Singer, and Hallock at
1:41.92.
Both teams will be back in action on February 2 at Frostburg
State University with Marymount University.
