The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swim teams
swept a Capital Athletic Conference dual meet at Salisbury
University on Saturday afternoon, with both teams winning every
race. The Eagle men set four pool records on the day. The women
won, 170-35, and the men won, 140-65.
Winners for the women included the 200 medley relay of Katie
Fago, Hannah Hagy, Ashley Walnut, and Riley Scalzo at 2:07.49;
Walnut in the 800 freestyle at 9:55.97; Abby Cox in the 200
freestyle at 2:15.26; Elizabeth Lewan in the 50 freestyle at 28.70;
Robin Brazier in the 200 IM at 2:33.35; Fago in the 100 butterfly
at 1:10.39; Stephanie Hallock in the 100 freestyle at 1:01.75;
Meredith Thompson in the 100 backstroke at 1:10.52; Brazier in the
400 freestyle at 4:48.65; Hagy in the 100 breast at 1:18.41; and
the 200 free relay of Tara Banks, Brazier, Coax, and Allison Martin
at 1:57.50. The women went 1-2-3 in every race of the day but
one.
The men saw pool records in the 200 medley relay (Sean Mayer,
Peter Slattery, Tom Rinaldi, Matt Arnold) at 1:49.59; Zach Eisig in
the 400 freestyle at 4:17.36 and the 800 freestyle at 8:53.70; and
Alex Anderson in the 50 freestyle at 23.98. Other winners included
Mayer in the 200 freestyle at 2:03.17; Ryan McGhee in the 200 IM at
2:19.43; Michale Yelmgren in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.85; Matt
Garstka in the 100 freestyle at 55.68; Mayer in the 100 backstroke
at 1:02.60; and Michael Perdue in the 100 breast at 1:10.20.
Both teams will return to action on January 26 when they host
Gettysburg College in the final home meet of the season.
