FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team split a pair of matches at the UMW Indoor Center on Saturday, falling to Division I George Mason, 6-3, before topping Capital Athletic Conference foe York College, 9-0. The Eagles move to 2-1 on the season.
In the Mason match, the Eagles picked up wins from
Casey Malcolm and
Cassie Bowman at three doubles (9-7) before winning at two singles with
Katie Schafer (6-4, 7-5) and at three singles with
Michelle Meadows (6-1, 2-6, 6-1).
The Eagles swept York in all singles matches in straight sets after claiming all three doubles points.
UMW will visit Methodist University on February 27.
