As a potential student-athlete at the University of Mary Washington, you are encouraged to contact your sport's head coach at the start of the recruiting process. In addition to calling, emailing, or visiting the coach, you are encouraged to complete a sport recruit questionnaire through Frontrush.

This form will allow the coach to get to know a little more about you, and more easily contact you and keep you informed. Please complete the form for each sport in which you are interested from the list below.

The University of Mary Washington is a proud member of NCAA Division III.  As a Division III institution, we do not offer athletic scholarships nor do we utilize the National Letter of Intent program.  However, all of our sports are very competitive and spots on rosters must be offered and earned.  Each head coach has the autonomy to determine the size and make-up of the roster for their sport.  If the head coach offers a prospective student-athlete a tryout, the tryout will include at least one opportunity in sport-related activity observed by the head coach during the championship or non-championship segment.  The head coach will make the determination as to whether a tryout opportunity will be offered to a prospective student-athlete.  All roster spots are evaluated annually, based on criteria such as academic and athletic performance, team commitment and chemistry, and social responsibility.  Any questions about a current or prospective student-athlete’s status on a roster should be directed to that sport’s head coach.

November 19, 2014 UMW's Teagan Young Named Regional Runner of the Year by USTFCCCA University of Mary Washington sophomore Teagan Young, on the strength of her first place finish in the regional championship, was named region runner of the year by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.
November 15, 2014 Young Takes Overall Honors as UMW Women Place Fifth at NCAA Cross Country Regional; Men Take Ninth Sophomore Teagan Young took first place honors as the University of Mary Washington women's cross country team finished in fifth place at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Rome, Ga. The Eagle men finished in ninth place. Senior Lauren Braney finished seventh ovrall, and will join Young at next Saturday's NCAA Championships.
November 4, 2014 Teagan Young Named October's UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athlete of the Month On the heels of her CAC Championship on Saturday, sophomore Teagan Young has been named as the UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athloete of the Month for October.
November 1, 2014 UMW Women's Cross Country Places Second at CAC Championships; Men Take Fourth Sophomore Teagan Young finished first overall by a margin of 22 seconds, as the University o0f Mary Washington women's cross country team finished in second place at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Four Winds Golf Club. The Eagle men, led by fourth-place finisher Ben Sorensen, finished fourth in the men's 8K.
October 18, 2014 UMW Women's Cross Country Places 8th at Connecticut College Invite; Men Place 12th The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The women finished in eighth place, while the men placed 12th.
October 7, 2014 UMW's Teagan Young Repeats as CAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Mary Washington sophomore Teagan Young was named the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after claiming second place at the Paul Short Invitational last Saturday.
