UMW Volleyball Falls at Randolph-Macon

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday night in Ashland, Va., falling to 5-3 on the season. Set scores were 25-16, 25-11, 25-23.

The Eagles struggled offensively, with just 14 kills on the night. UMW was led by sophomore Kayla Crawford, who had four kills with no errors in nine attempts. Senior Ellen Smethurst had three kills in four attempts, and Laura Gomez added three kills as well.

Freshmen Courtney Guengerich (five assists) and Maggie Parrish (seven) led the Eagles in passing.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday evening when they host Virginia Wesleyan College at 6:00 p.m.
