The University of Mary Washington volleyball team swept a three-game win over Stevenson University on Tuesday night in Owings Mills, Md. The Eagles improve to 17-7 on the season, and 5-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play. Game scores were 25-23, 25-20, 25-21.
The Eagles used a balanced attack, with Hannah Lawson (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle), Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle), and Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) each recording eight kills, while Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) added seven without an error. Junior Katie Shiflett (Weyers Cave, Va., Fort Defiance) added 32 assists, while freshman Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va., Manchester) had 15 digs. Lawson scored 12 digs and Adebanjo 10 for UMW. Herrick added four block assists to lead the Eagles.
UMW will visit Marymount University in the final CAC regular season match of the year next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
