#21 Eagles Fly Past Washington College, 9-0, on Sunday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #21 University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Washington College, 9-0, on Sunday. The Eagles won every match in straight sets on their way to the win. UMW moves to 14-6 on the year.

UMW led off doubles, winning all three matches. Both duos of Alex Ritter/Alina Suyama and Mackenzie Smith/Michaela Dowd won 8-0. Ritter/Suyama were 8-0 winners at two doubles, while Smith/Dowd won 8-0 at number three. Lindsay Raulston/Shelby Harris won 8-4 at one doubles to complete the sweep.

Chrissy Gaul and Berri Flood each won their singles match 6-0, 6-0. Gaul won at number five over Tricia Valerio, while Flood was a winner at number six over Monica Benitez. Mackenzie Smith and Alex Ritter also picked up singles wins at the three and four spot respecitvely. Smith was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against Emily Evans, while Ritter won 6-1, 6-0 against Amy Stevens. Raulston and Harris also won to complete the sweep. Lindsay won four and four over April Weaver, with Harris winning 6-2, 6-1 against Marielle McIntyre.

The Eagles return to action next Saturday, April 19th against #3 Johns Hopkins. UMW will host the Blue Jays in the regular season finale at 10:00 a.m.
