Senior Amy Olson (Crofton, Md., Arundel) each scored two second half goals to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Wesley College on Saturday night in Dover, Del. The Eagles improve to 6-1-1 overall, and 1-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
After a scoreless first half in which the Eagles outshot the hosts, 6-0, UMW finally connected when Olson scored at 59:27 on an assist from Tina Rader. Olson gave the Eagles a 2-0 advantage at 82:23 on a Jenny Mayo (Fredericksburg, Va., Chancellor) assist. Wesley scored on a penalty kick in the closing minutes.
The Eagles led in shots, 16-4, and Wesley led in corner kicks, 3-2. Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) made two saves in goal for the Eagles, who will be back in action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they host Averett University.
