#16 UMW Women's Lacrosse Tops Hood, 24-3

Senior Katie Wallis (Cypress, Texas, Cy-Creek) scored six goals and junior Catherine Kennedy (Baltimore, Md., Baltimore Lutheran) added two scores and six assists to lead the 16th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 24-3 win over Hood College on Saturday afternoon in the Eagles' Capital Athletic Conference opener.

The Eagles raced out to a 15-1 halftime lead, outshooting the guests, 23-1. The Eagles outscored the Blazers, 9-2, in the second frame.

Wallis had five goals and one assist, while Kennedy had two goals and six assists for a team-high eight points. Junior Lauren Callison (Stevensville, Md., Kent Island) had four goals and two asissts, Allie Kimmelman (Burke, Va., Robinson) had one goal and five assists, and freshman Jenna Petrucelli (Cranbury, N.J., Peddie School) added four goals.

Sophomore Kathryn Stiltz (Marietta, Ga., Walton) had one save in recording the win for UMW. In all, UMW outshot Hood, 37-6.

The Eagles will host nationally-ranked Washington & Lee University on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
