UMW Rowers Compete at Knecht Cup; Grab Four Second Place Finishes

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's rowing teams turned in a successful weekend at the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J., this weekend. The Eagles saw four boats take second place finishes in grand finals on Sunday.

The women's varsity four kicked off Sunday's racing for the Eagles and took fourth place in the Division III grand final with a time of 8:25.43. The men's varsity four then took second in the Division II/III race with a time of 6:52.19.

The women's second varsity eight finished second in the Division III race with a time of 7:32.90, just behind Washington College. The men;'s club eight took sixth in the grand final with a time of 7:44.20.

The men's varsity eight finished second in the Division II/III grand final with a time of 6:23.30, and the women's varsity eight took second in tghe Division III final with a time of 7:03.13, behind only Marietta College.

Both the women's varsity four and varsity eight took first in their heat races on Saturday.

The men's and women's teams will be back in action in two weeks at the MARC Championships in York, Pa.
