#28 Men's Tennis Starts Off California Trip With a Huge 6-3 Win Over #7 Cal Lutheran

Thousand Oaks, Ca.-- The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Cal Lutheran, 6-3, on Monday. CLU came into the match ranked #7 nationally, while UMW is #28 in the nation. The Eagles move to 7-0 on the year.

Stratton Gilmore picked up a big doubles win with partner Brandon Griffin at two doubles, 8-6 over Moises Cardenas and Fergus Scott. Alex Blakhin and David Lunding-Johansson were also winners at three doubles. The duo knocked off Ian Slater and Jesse Knight 8-4.

Gilmore continued his big day in singles, with a win over Connor Treacy, 6-1, 6-1 at three singles. His double partner Brandon Griffin also picked up a singles win at six singles over Scott. Griffin was a 6-1, 6-2 victor. Blakhin and Lunding-Johansson also won singles matches. Blakhin knocked off Sean Handley one and zero at five singles, while Lunding-Johansson was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at the four spot.

The #28 Eagles return to action Wednesday against #17 Pomona-Pitzer at 7:00 p.m.
