UMW's Stephen Clendenin Named NCAA Division III National Male Swimmer of the Week

University of Mary Washington junior Stephen Clendenin (Ashburn, Va., Home Schooled) has been named as the Counsilman Hunsaker National Division III Male Swimmer of the Week by collegeswimming.com for the week of October 12, 2009.

Clendenin won two events as UMW topped Washington & Lee (146-116) for the first time. The junior won the 200 butterfly (1:58.29), the 200 individual medley (1:59.98) and swam to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:59.11). Clendenin also swim on the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.58).

Other National Swimmers of the Week were Mary Beck (LSU), Eugene Godsoe (Stanford) for Division I, Julie Widmann (Ashland University), and Laura Barito (Stevens Institute of Technology).
