UMW Men's Lacrosse Tops Marymount, 12-11, in Double OT

Sophomore Harry Snyder scored four goals, including the game winner in the second overtime, as the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team defeated Marymount University, 12-11, in double overtime in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday night at Washington-Lee High School on Saturday night in Alexandria. The Eagles improve to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in CAC play.

The Eagles fell behind quickly in the game, as Marymount scored three times in the first quarter to lead, 3-1, after 15 minutes. The Eagles answered with a 3-1 advantage in the second quarter, thanks to a pair of goals from junior Evan Weiss. After Marymount took a 7-4 lead in the third, UMW answered with six straight goals to lead, 10-7, entering the fourth quarter.

After Marymount tied the score in the fourth quarter, Snyder scored the game winner with 3:15 remaining in the second extra frame for the Eagles' win.

The Eagles held a 51-32 shot advantage, and had a 41-37 defcit in ground balls. UMW won 15 of 26 faceoffs. Snyder led the Eagles with four goals and one assist, and Mark Bowler and Weiss each had three goals to lead UMW. Matt Prin had nine saves for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will visit Wesley College on April 13 at 4:00 p.m.
