The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational on Saturday, with the women finishing sixth among 30 teams and the men placing fifth among 30 scored schools.
For the men, senior
Frank DeVar (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) finished first on the 4K course with a time of 12:11.
Jason Driscoll (Haymarket, Va., Battlefield) followed at 12:33, and
Stephen Harrison (Sterling, Va., Park View) was the Eagles' third place finisher at 13:15. In the 8100 meter race,
Brian Fulton (Pawling, N.Y., Pawling) was UMW's top finisher at 27:23, followed by
Jake Pattyson (Winchester, Va., James Wood) at 28:01 and
Sean Healy (Berryville, Va., Clarke County) at 28:04.
The Eagle women saw
Nina Pfeiffer (Strasburg, Va., Strasburg) place first on the team in the 6K race at 26:10, followed by
Madelyn Crowell (Danville, Va., Chatham) at 26:34 and
Chelsea LeHew (Williamsburg, Va., Lafayette) at 26:51. In the 4K race,
Kristy Witek (Fairfax, Va., Chantilly) finished at 15:31, followed by
Sara Dawes (Chesapeake Beach, Md., Huntingtown) at 15:52, and
Mara Cate (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) at 16:08.
The Eagles will return to action on October 2 at the Paul Short Invitational at 12:15 p.m.
