The University of Mary Washington fell at Salisbury University, 1-0, on Saturday in a battle for first place in the Capital Athletic Conference standings. The Eagles are now 11-5-1 on the season and 6-1-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Salisbury's Kyle Sterling scored the game's lone goal on a corner kick assist from Ben DeLisle at 34:46. The Seahawks outshot the Eagles, 25-9, and had seven corner kicks to six for UMW. Eagle goalkeeper Emmett Rutkowski (Culpeper, Va., Culpeper) had a banner day for the Eagles with 14 saves. Joshua Scotton had two stops for the Sea Gulls.

Mary Washington will visit top-ranked Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the final regular season game of the year.
