The University of Mary Washington men's and women's rowing teams competed at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia on Saturday.
For the men, the varsity four boat, consisting of
Robert Cowley (Springfield, Va., West Springfield),
William Bennett (Gloucester, Va., Gloucester),
Patrick Wood (Springfield, Va., West Springfield),
Daniel Smith (Norfolk, Va., Granby), and
Daniel Zimmerman (Chesapeake, Va., Hickory) finished sixth among 22 boats with a time of 14:40.44 as the top NCAA Division III entrant. The men's novice eight finished in 17th place with a time of 17:20.60 among 20 boats. The men's novice four took 11th place among 14 boats with a time of 17:38.60, and the varsity eight took 16th among 26 boats with a time of 13:12.77.
The women saw the novice eight take sixth place with a time of 18:48.12. Members of that boat included

Casey Heigh (Fairfax, Va., W.T. Woodson),
Carol Quinn (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee),

Morgan DePaulo (Chatham, Va., Chatham Hall),
Alyssa Clifford (Marstons Mills, Me., Barnstable),
Diana Pistochini (Springfield, Va., West Springfield), and
Gina Ranfone (Arlington, Va., Yorktown). The women's varsity four took 10th among 19 boats at 17:08.68, the women's JV eight took 10th among 14 boats at 16:00.43, and the women's varsity eight finished 16th and the second varsity eight finished 19th in the open eight race.
The men will conclude the fall at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta on October 31.
